In 2019, it is as a Diamond Sponsor of the Luxembourg Pavilion that ArcelorMittal Luxembourg decided to enter in the great adventure of the Universal Expo, which starts in October in Dubai. It is a beautiful opportunity to the company to participate to the Luxembourg's reputation by giving the best quality of its steel products. 170 tons of beams, tubes and reinforcing bars were produced and shipped from steel plants in the Grand-Duchy to join the sandy Emirates.

Sustainable economy

Dubai World Expo 2020 theme is “Connect spirits, build the Future”, and is covered through 3 dimensions: Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability. All the countries represented there would have to impress the 25 million visitors expected. Year and year, ArcelorMittal aims to improve its steel production and make it greener and greener. In Luxembourg, our steel is produced only from recycled scrap melted in electric arc furnaces. And the group invested over 250 million dollars in low-emissions innovative programs presented in its first Climate Action Report published in May 2019.
The big part of the steel components of the pavilion were made in Belval and Differdange.

Inner structure of the pavilion, as an advantage of steel, the structural components were designed with mechanically fastened connections.

Jonk Entrepreuneuren special award

ArcelorMittal Luxembourg is a long date partner of the association Jonk Entrepreneuren since its creation. The company supports each year the “Best Business Plan” in the Mini-company contest.
For the 2020 edition, the winning group will get a special prize: a trip to Dubai to visit the World Expo! In that purpose, the participating mini-companies will have to gather and highlight the themes present in the Luxembourg Pavilion: creativity, beauty, sustainability diversity and entrepreneurship.

ArcelorMittal Luxembourg being, at the same time, partner with the Luxembourg Pavilion and Jonk Entrepreneuren, it seemed logical to meet the two projects!
