BMW Art Cars – A hybrid exhibition on ArcelorMittal Schifflange site

In the raw and poetic post-industrial setting of ArcelorMittal Schifflange, nine of the fifteen BMW Art Cars are exhibited for the European Year of Culture Esch 2022.

As main partners of Esch 2022, ArcelorMittal and BMW are combining their worlds for an exceptional exhibition in Luxembourg. Indeed, a good number of legendary cars taken in hand by the greatest artists of their time, from Roy Lichtenstein to Andy Warhol via Jeff Koons, are brought together to offer art and beautiful car lovers a sparkling set.

BMW Art Cars history

This project was born in 1975, when Hervé Poulain, a young auctioneer and driver, dreamed of participating in the mythical 24 Hours of Le Mans. Wishing to express his taste for art and for the automobile, he proposed to the Bavarian car manufacturer to entrust him with a car, which he would then have painted by an eminent artist of the time. The first Art Car, a 480 hp BMW 3.0 CSL by Alexander Calder, opens a series of 19 exceptional cars combining motor racing, art and design. This exhibition mixing legendary cars and renowned artists will reconcile car and contemporary art lovers.

You have until June 14 to visit this exhibition, hurry up!

Admission to the exhibition is free by registering here. Shuttles take visitors from the Aloyse Meyer parking lot (L-4335 Esch-sur-Alzette) to the exhibition building.
