STEM: students from the Polytechnic School of the Catholic University of Louvain discover our steel solutions developed in Luxembourg

Tuesday, October 22, 2019, Olivier Vassart, CEO of Steligence® and Professor at the University of Louvain (Belgium), presented to his students of the Ecole Polytechnique de Louvain the plant of Belval before taking them to a construction site using our local steel solutions.

Belval discovery

This visit, organized every year, is essential to the knowledge of steel construction elements that students will use in their future work: beams and sheet piles have no secret for them anymore. They will be ready to respond to the market requirements!

Arrived in Belval, the students were very impressed by the size of the facilities but also by the production process. A premiere for these young students who do not know the world of the steel industry.

Construction site (made in Steligence®)

The afternoon was an opportunity to visit the site of a future DIY store whose steel beams came from Differdange and were manufactured, painted and delivered directly to the construction site by the Steligence® Fabrication Center (previously known as Eurostructure). The aim was to show students a mixed structure in situ, combining concrete and steel. The combination of both materials is designed to optimize the construction. It meets the best current standards regarding fire resistance, soundproofing and space saving, thanks to the long spans possible. A good way to link courses delivered by Olivier Vassart and the implementation of steel solutions.
