Did you know that it takes at least 40 floors for a building to be called a "skyscraper"? Today, we have the opportunity to learn more about these extraordinary constructions as skyscrapers are honored with "Skyscraper Day" this Friday, September 3, 2021!
At ArcelorMittal Luxembourg, our employees in Differdange work every day on the production and development of products used for these non-standard buildings around the world. They respond to the new challenges by offering even stronger, innovative beams that allow more environmentally friendly constructions.
ArcelorMittal Differdange is internationally known for the Histar® beams used for the construction of outstanding buildings such as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Today, discover the skyscrapers of tomorrow made with our “Made in Luxembourg” steel.
Lusail Plaza, Lusail, Qatar
In 2020, ArcelorMittal Differdange delivered more than 600 tonnes of S355JR and S355M steel for the construction of two 70-storey towers and two 50-storey towers constituting the Lusail Plaza. Overlooking the Persian Gulf, these four futuristic towers will also have 35km² of green space. Construction of the Lusail Plaza will be completed in 2023.
« Bank of Africa Tower » or the Mohammed VI tower, Rabat, Morocco
After the tallest tower in Europe, ArcelorMittal Differdange can be proud of having also been selected to supply the steel for the tallest tower on the African continent. With its 250m height and its 55 floors, the Mohammed VI Tower is visible at 50km!
For this titanic project, the site supplied more than 9,000 tonnes of steel, including the S355 section.
Imperium, Manille, Philippines
Our world tour of the most beautiful skyscrapers built with ArcelorMittal Differdange steel ends in South East Asia and more precisely in the Philippines.
In 2013, the Differdange site supplied 700 tonnes of Histar® 460 SECTIONS joists to the Imperium in Manila. This Manila residential building reaches 192.2 meters and has no less than 63 floors and 233 luxurious suites.
