« Made in Luxembourg » for the Grand-Duchy!

All citizens and cross-border workers of the Grand Duchy are aware of the major changes underway to improve the mobility within the country. Free transport since March 1, development of the bus network and the extension of the tram line. It was for the Luxembourg tram project that the Rodange plant was chosen to supply grooved rails for the sections going to the station.

This is the first order from the group LuxTram to ArcelorMittal Luxembourg. This was received in February 2019 for section B for rails of type 54G1, grade R200, 18 meters long! The Rodange site has produced grooved rails of one of the best qualities present on the market and while meeting the standards required by the Luxembourg tram project, and has done so for over three years now. In 2016 Luxtram placed the bulk of the order for section A abroad. Arcelormittal Rodange supplied the rails for the switches produced in the Kihn workshops in Rumelange.

Today, this is a source of pride for the site and for all the collaborators working on this project.

It made sense for everyone here in Rodange to participate in these local works. Buying local is really useful for the country’s economy and for reducing the carbon footprint.
Emir Grairi, Customer Service Team Leader Rodange

On the site, employees were particularly kept informed of the destination of the rails on which they worked.

We wanted to inform our employees on the line and they paid even more attention to the completion. They were proud of it and it shows in Luxembourg that we know how to make this type of rail and of high quality.
Emir Grairi, Customer Service Team Leader Rodange

Luxtram wanted to go to the production site and observe the quality and the end result of the grooved rails that ArcelorMittal Rodange was going to send them. They left very satisfied with the high quality provided, with the little year of experience that on site in the production of these specific rails, thanks to the analysis of the samples, their G-shape tolerance and straightness.

In Rodange, around thirty people were impacted by the completion of this order for Luxtram, this figure can easily be tripled if we consider everyone since the start of the chain here in Luxembourg.

The first rails delivered were received on February 21, 2020 at Place de Paris (Luxembourg City) and on March 4 and 5 in other streets of the capital of the Grand Duchy.
