Ms. Valérie Massin is appointed "Country Head Luxembourg" of ArcelorMittal
Luxembourg, 11 August 2025 – Ms. Valérie Massin has succeeded Mr. Henri Reding in the position of "Country Head Luxembourg."
Ms. Massin, a graduate of the Faculty of Law of the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the College of Europe in Bruges, joined the former TradeArbed in 2000 as a lawyer, before holding various positions in the field of Human Resources. In her most recent role, she was the Head of Human Resources for ArcelorMittal Europe Long Products, the business entity to which the Belval, Differdange, Rodange, and Dommeldange facilities are attached. Ms. Massin also contributed to the discussions held as part of the Tripartite Agreements LUX2021 and LUX2025.
As the "Country Head" for ArcelorMittal in Luxembourg, Ms. Massin will be the spokesperson and the reference person for the company’s various stakeholders in the country.
Decarbonization and the sustainability of Luxembourg’s activities are major topics for the role of Country Head. ArcelorMittal has assets to continue its development in Luxembourg, as showed by the recent significant investments currently being made or already operational:
- A new electric furnace in Belval, which will increase Luxembourg’s steel production capacity by 15% of the annual tonnage, allowing the Luxembourg facilities to operate self-sufficiently in terms of crude steel production capacity to meet the needs for finished rolled products in the Grand Duchy. This new equipment will be operational by the end of 2025.
- A dust extraction system in Differdange, capable of filtering 1,200,000 m3 of air per hour and reducing up to 80% of diffuse dust emissions. The commissioning of this installation is scheduled for early 2026.
- A photovoltaic installation with more than 8,600 panels, covering 75,000 m2 of the roof of ArcelorMittal’s European Logistics Center in Hanoboesch and commissioned in the first quarter of the year, with an expected annual production of 4600 MWh per year. Another similar project is also under development at the Belval facilities.
Finally, the pursuit of transparent and constructive social dialogue is also an essential element to enable the company to move forward in a competitive and regulatory demanding environment.
Ms. Massin stated:First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Reding for his work in Luxembourg in favor of the development of our activities. We have many assets in the Grand Duchy to achieve our ambitions, even though the current conditions in our markets are challenging. Our portfolio of products appreciated worldwide for their quality, the recognized expertise of our teams, and our facilities that we continuously improve to make them self-sufficient and as efficient as possible are the foundations of our future. I will be particularly attentive to the expectations of our stakeholders, with whom we must work closely to achieve our shared goals. The future of our Luxembourg steel industry indeed depends on the common will to develop responsible steels that promote a continuous reduction of CO2 emissions, a serene coexistence with residents living near our facilities, and an industrial activity favorable to the influence of the Grand Duchy.
