New sheet pile twinning robot: safety and productivity at the heart of the project

August 2023 marks the installation of a 100% autonomous robot dedicated to twinning sheet piles at the exit of train 2. The result of 10 months of development and an investment of €700,000, this robot transforms the twinning process by relieving operators of arduous tasks, while increasing the productivity of the area.

Risks and arduousness eliminated

Before the robot was installed, operators in the area were faced with difficult conditions, in addition to the risk of accidents due to the proximity of operators to moving machines, the weather and the repetitive gestures to make the holes in the sheet piles and place the labels made this work all the more difficult.

In 2023, the project to improve this process was started taking into account this hardship and an objective of increased productivity with the integration of an autonomous robot as a solution.

Robotic vision and precision at the service of productivity

One of the main advances of this robot lies in the use of robotic vision. Thanks to visual sensors, the robot is able to detect, analyze and adapt its gestures in real time, guaranteeing increased precision and reducing the risk of error.
In addition to the safety benefits, the robot is also proving its worth in terms of performance with already visible results, the productivity of the pairing has increased by 13%.

By combining innovation and safety, this project shows that it is possible to concile technological progress and worker well-being.
