The largest beam in the world is Luxembourgish

From the scrap yard to the tallest skyscrapers, the W14x1000lb/ft section is the largest and heaviest steel beam in the world and its journey is nothing short of remarkable!

Combining precision and expertise, this impressive beam is the result of centuries of Luxembourg’s know-how and innovation, produced at the Grey mill in Differdange. It embodies the craftsmanship and advanced engineering that define every product made in our Luxembourgish sites.

Even more remarkable, the W14x1000lb/ft beam is made in XCarb® recycled and renewably produced from 100% recycled steel using only renewable electricity, continuing our commitment to sustainability while shaping the future of architecture.

The combination of this new beam with our HISTAR/ASTM A913 flagship steel grades, makes it the perfect contender for applications such as columns in high-rise buildings all around the world. There is today no solution in the market able to come close to the ratio between load capacity vs. compactness and the low embodied carbon provided by this Jumbo beam, being a real engineering and sustainability advantage.

Watch in our video the production process that transforms scrap steel into this world-class beam.

With such amazing products, architects and engineers will push forward the boundaries of high-rise building design. Combining high strength and environmental properties of this super heavy jumbo, carbon footprint of tall buildings’ structural system will be reduced by 40% and size of the columns is significantly decreased, offering more space for the tenants.
