The world’s largest beam in honour of H.R.H. Grand Duke Guillaume
ArcelorMittal is proudly joining the accession ceremonies of the new Grand Duke of Luxembourg by naming one of its unique beams in the world “Grand-Duc Guillaume.”
The steel industry is an integral part of the Grand Duchy’s DNA, from its early days with the iron ore deposits in the Minett region to the development of electric steelworks, contributing to the country’s economic and social growth. Staying true to its local roots, ArcelorMittal has decided to join the festivities by specially producing its impressive extra-large beam weighing up to 1,488 kg/m (1,000 lb/ft), the largest beam in the world, and naming it “Grand-Duc Guillaume.”
Made from XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel, this uniquely sized beam enables CO₂ emission savings of up to 85% compared to similar performance solutions and stands as a strong symbol of the sustainable future of our industry in Luxembourg.
Thanks to the expertise of the more than century-old Train Grey teams in Differdange, this beam helps to promote the image of the Grand Duchy across all continents.
This beam, adorned in the colors of the Luxembourg flag, will bear a commemorative plaque marking this historic date for the country and will be on display at the Schlassgoard estate in Esch-sur-Alzette in the coming days.
In addition to this exceptional achievement, ArcelorMittal, whose future global headquarters is under construction in Kirchberg, will be illuminated in the colors of the Luxembourg flag throughout the weekend.
