The first edition of the Discovery day @ArcelorMittal took place on February 15, 2018 in Belval. This day allowed the students of the ENIM (National School of Engineers of Metz) to discover the group and its trades. For ArcelorMittal, these young people represent the innovation and competitiveness for tomorrow.
Indeed, investment in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is an integral part of the group's sustainable development approach. In Luxembourg, actions have already been implemented last year to strengthen school-business links such as the Hello Future programme or the Engineering trainee days targeting high school students. The Discovery day aims to attract the best engineers in universities before they are approached by other employers. We will welcome the Belgian University of Louvain La Neuve in June and the German University of RWTH-Aachen in the last quarter.

We welcomed the ENIM students with a presentation of the group and plants and all visited the Rolling Mill 2 and its sheet piles, flagship of the Belval site. During the afternoon, students shared and learned from our colleagues: Stéphane Boul, head of the Belval Medium Mill; Fabien Commere, maintenance manager – TMB Belval; Marouane Lahmidi, maintenance engineer – ArcelorMittal Rodange; Pierre Cézard; process engineer – Grey Mill Differdange; and Cédric Marilleau, production planning engineer – ArcelorMittal Differdange. Everyone explained its background, experience, successes, challenges and tips for success; useful information to consider internships or graduation project in collaboration with ArcelorMittal in Luxembourg.
