Today, the management of ArcelorMittal Luxembourg attended with the representatives of the unions a meeting convened by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labor, Employment and the social and solidary Economy, and by the Minister of the Economy. The agenda concerned the “savings plan” announced last week by the management of ArcelorMittal Luxembourg.

This first stage of the social dialogue enabled the parties to introduce their position and expectations.

The management of ArcelorMittal Luxembourg confirmed its project and its commitment to study all the social tools made available by Luxembourg law in order to find the best acceptable solution for the employees affected by this project.

A work group gathering representatives of each party will be set up very soon to establish a shared diagnosis of the situation. An agenda could then be detailed for initiating internal discussions with employee representatives, as part of a constructive social dialogue, and provide clear answers on the support mechanisms that will be defined to the concerned employees.
