ArcelorMittal Luxembourg hosts a delegation of Ambassadors in Belval
Luxembourg, 24 July 2015 – As part of Luxembourg’s Presidency of the European Union, ArcelorMittal Belval hosted a large delegation of Ambassadors from various European Union countries for a visit of its facilities.
After being welcomed by Michel Wurth, Chairman of ArcelorMittal Luxembourg, the visitors were able to discover the history of the steel industry in Luxembourg, and find out more about the steels produced at ArcelorMittal Belval, which are used for a variety of projects throughout the world.
The tour lasted for over one hour, and covered the scrap metal yard, the electric furnace, and the medium section mill, where beams with different cross-sections are rolled, which gave the visitors an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the manufacturing process.
To mark the visit Michel Wurth stated: “Giving European leaders a tangible view of our business activities and issues is essential for ArcelorMittal, regardless of whether those activities and challenges are industrial, commercial, social, or environmental in nature. Our operations in Luxembourg, and the recent €35 million investment in a new line of sheet piling in Belval, which produces the wider sheet piles in the world, demonstrate the Group’s determination to boost its operations in Europe, in order to produce cutting-edge steels”.
