Innovative steels for the energy market
ArcelorMittal is present from 7 to 11 April at Hannover Messe 2014. The group provides latest developments and innovations from their flat and long products division at the world's largest industry fair. Hannover Messe offers a forum for industrial technology, and ArcelorMittal Europe has chosen to show its wide range of products for the energy market.

ArcelorMittal's innovative solutions for various applications in the solar industry include for example the Magnelis® coating which guarantees 25 years durability for solar steel structures. It offers strong corrosion resistance and keeps ground-mounted solar structures corrosion free for decades. The Magnelis® coating is best suited to withstand harsh environments and poses a cost-effective alternative to the post-galvanised process of steel.
ArcelorMittal is fully engaged in global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate their impact. As a natural, permanent material, steel is the ideal product to meet the challenge of providing sustainable solutions for the future. It is used to create more than 80% of the components required to build a typical wind turbine. Valued for its strength, flexibility and durability in the field, steel is also 100% recyclable, making wind energy truly renewable. In Hannover ArcelorMittal Europe shows its complete offer of steel solutions for the wind energy industry: a wide range of quality steels for foundations, flanges, nacelle structures, connections, gearing, bearings, generators and for tubular as well as lattice towers.
Sustainable steel structures
Lattice towers are ecologically attractive, being the most cost-effective solution to reach the greatest heights. Especially for on-shore applications, reaching great heights allows increased wind speeds to be utilized improving efficiency and turbine power. The low cost structure, reduced foundations combined with a corrosion protection through galvanizing makes it the best investment over the long-term. They also have numerous advantages compared to other materials: they are at least 20% lighter, require 60% less foundations, they are easier to deliver in restricted areas (hills, forest) and they have the lowest life cycle costs for sustainable energy production.
ArcelorMittal's high strength steel shapes for structures reduce the carbon footprint and improve at the same time the competitive edge of steel versus other building materials, as steel is infinitely recyclable. This has a positive effect on its environmental impact and CO2 emissions seen from the lifecycle perspective.
